Here at Collect a Case we’re having a month of giving! We’re asking work colleagues, family members and the general public to clear out their cupboards (make room for your big Christmas shop!) to help others in our local area. Unfortunately there are a lot of people in Macclesfield who would be really grateful for a few bits of shopping (that we don’t really need) as the weather gets colder.
I’m also honoured to say that one of our beloved members of the Collect a Case team, Emma Houghton, has gone that extra mile by donating her own hair for ‘The Little Princess trust’ a charity that crafts human hair wigs for children suffering hair loss.
It restores your faith in Humans when individuals donate unwanted items, but to sacrifice something which alters their appearance deserves praise on a different level. WELL DONE Emma, you’re one in a million.
Here’s some more information about these worthy causes we’ll be helping in this festive period.
Silklife Foodbank was established by Silklife Church in December 2010 in response to Macclesfield’s growing need for on-the-spot emergency food boxes. They work in partnership with 22 local support agencies and frontline care professionals such as Cheshire East Housing Options, Social Services and Macclesfield Accommodation Care and Concern (MACC). This ensures that they are able to reach to most vulnerable and needy people and families in our town who would otherwise go hungry.
We will be putting donation boxes in both offices to collect your offerings and also a piggy bank for those organised souls who don’t have a massive surplus of food – we can then go and buy a few more bits to add. We’d like to be able to give some Christmassy sweets and treats for the children.
We will also be supporting the nationwide ‘Christmas Jumper Day’ on December the 12th for ‘Save the Children’. By donning your best festive sweater on Friday 12 December, you’ll be helping raise money for their life saving work around the world – from Syria to South Sudan, Brazil to Bangladesh. More importantly this year, your money will go even further because every pound you give will be match-funded by the UK government – doubling your donations!
Abby will be making cakes and she’s even set up an SMS code TEAMCAC – so you can just text this code to 70050 on the day to donate £2 – quick and easy!
Big or small, every gift you give makes a real difference. We have a suggested donations list for the ‘Christmas Shopping’. Please note that we are unable to accept donations of alcohol or food that contain alcohol, everything needs to be unopened and in date!
Please give what you can. Thanks for your time and let’s start donating!
