IT’S THAT TIME OF THE YEAR…

It’s that time of the year again when coughs, colds and other illnesses seem to multiply.  Woolly and furry head gear is appropriate and clearing out the remnants of warmer times from the kitchen cupboards is a must. Hearty stews and one-pots are now the order of the day.

With this in mind, we’re asking work colleagues, family members and the general public to clear out their cupboards again, not only to make room for the Christmas shop but to help others in our local area.

It’s getting colder and unfortunately there are a lot of people in Macclesfield who would really benefit from some help with their essential items of shopping.

Last year you successfully helped provide emergency food support for 798 adults and 306 children. That’s an impressive 521 parcels for single people, 53 parcels for couples and 143 parcels for families. That’s a staggering 18000 meals and over 8000KG of food.

Here’s some more information about this worthy cause.

Silklife Foodbank was established by Silklife Church in December 2010 in response to Macclesfield’s growing need for on-the-spot emergency food boxes.

They work in partnership with 22 local support agencies and frontline care professionals such as Cheshire East Housing Options, Social Services and Macclesfield Accommodation Care and Concern (MACC).

This ensures that they are able to reach out to the most vulnerable and needy people and families in our town who would otherwise go hungry.

Big or small, every gift you give makes a real difference. We have a suggested donations list for the food items we particularly require.  Please, if you can, add a couple of these items to your Christmas shopping list, bring the items in to the office and we’ll make sure that they find a good home.

Please note that we are unable to accept donations of alcohol or foods that contain alcohol, and everything needs to be unopened and in date!

We will also be supporting the Christmas Jumper Day on December the 18th for Save the Children, Macmillan Cancer Support and Make-A-Wish UK. By donning your best festive sweater on the 18th, and making a donation, you’ll be helping raise money for their life saving work around the world.

We’ll be setting up a SMS donation code, so on the day you can donate £2 – quick and easy!

Please give what you can. Thank you for your time and let’s start donating!

Closing date for donations will be on the 12th December.

If you’re donating Advert calendars, this will end a little earlier closing on the 30th November
