Early last year Collect a Case kindly offered an exciting opportunity for their employees to take time out of their busy daily working schedules to undertake NVQ courses in both Customer Service (Level 2) and IT (Level 2), taught in-house by Macclesfield College tutors.
We had two extremely persistent tutors in Caroline Smithers, IT Trainer/Assessor and Deborah Barber, Business and Administration Tutor/Assessor. Both Caroline and Debbie understood the ‘busyness’ of our office and they carried on teaching, regardless of the constant interruptions from never-ending phone calls and individual problems that other employees needed to speak to the Collect a Case students about, which just couldn’t wait…
When providing good customer service, our enthusiastic students needed to understand what our customers want and how they feel. This means that they need to share information with customers and listen carefully to them.
Macclesfield College offers fantastic courses after GCSEs for young students and courses for adults or training for businesses. The college and its surrounding campus is state of the art and is designed to inspire success. The facilities feature modern classrooms, industry-standard studios, workshops, and other specialist vocational training areas.
When providing good customer service, our enthusiastic students needed to understand what our customers want and how they feel. This means that they need to share information with customers and listen carefully to them. But more importantly, our customers need to understand what our employees are telling them and what we are able to do for them.
Communication is an essential skill for delivering excellent customer service.
The Level 2 Certificate in IT requires successful completion of four units, each with a value of 4 points, totalling 16 points. The core objective from this course was to demonstrate or expand upon existing knowledge of Microsoft office programmes.
Everyone who participated gained something from the experience, but more importantly gained a qualification in their chosen course.
