It’s that time of the year again where commercialism is at an all-time high and we’re not talking about Christmas! Perhaps no other day evokes stronger feelings from both the lovesick and those entirely sick of love than this day. You’ve guessed it…Valentine’s Day…pffft!
Surely the celebration of this calendar date (feared by all) can be fun within the office. After all, we’re still basking from the success of Halloween and still itching from those ghastly Christmas jumpers. But if the Directors showed any heart we would be greeted with a red rose and a box of Milk Tray on our desk! Can you imagine…how freaky will that be.
If Management wanted you to make a big deal about Valentine’s Day, they’d have handed out a list of names, ordered you to make them a card and forced you into spending your well earned money on a Secret Valentine’s Day gift (trust me, this got brought up).
Instead we’ve decided to be a little different. Love may be the motto for February in the shops, but in the office the key word is ‘discretion’. Intrigued?
Origins of Valentine’s Day –
The priests would sacrifice a goat, for fertility, and a dog, for purification. They would then strip the goat’s hide into strips, dip them into the sacrificial blood and take to the streets, gently slapping both women and crop fields with the goat hide.
We’ve created a drop box, ‘a shout out if you like…’ Here the wonderful staff at Collect a Case can express their feelings to another colleague with complete discretion in no longer than 140 characters or less. We’ll compile a list and insert them on your team profile page! How exciting is this…
Let’s not wallow in self-pity, or hate everything and everybody on this day. Let’s embrace the love and makes someone’s day.
Have a great Valentines and keep smiling.
